Week 9: Belgrade and Neuschwanstein Castle

I packed up my suitcase *again* and flew to Belgrade, Serbia for the Jean Piaget Society Conference. This was my third consecutive week at the Munich airport, but the first time I’ve left the EU and had to get my passport checked. The german officer looked at my passport and said, “You’ve been here since March? So long.” and then THREW my passport back at me, muttered “god damnit!” and sent me on my way. What was he objecting to?! I have not overstayed my welcome…yet.

Week 8: Venice Is Not for Children

Annie and I managed to escape to Venice for a couple of nights (May 22-24) while the girls stayed with Grandma, Aunt Molly, and Aunt Donna in Munich. This was almost three full days of bliss in which we traded stroller, Playmobile horses, and bathroom negotiations for boats, wine glasses, and discussing whether to get uno or due scoops of gelato. Venice was the perfect location for our getaway: A one hour flight, great food, and incredibly kid-unfriendly.

Week 7: Copenhagen

On Thursday we picked the girls up from school early and headed to the airport for our flight to Copenhagen.

Week 6: Frühlingsfest

Last weekend, we all put on our newly-acquired trachten (dirndls and lederhosen) and headed to Theriesenweisse for Fruhlingsfest. Fruhlingsfest (“Spring Festival”),also known as the little sister of Oktoberfest, happens on the Oktoberfest grounds for three weeks in the Spring
